Adobe Youth Voices 2014 – 2

The Adobe Youth Voices is a all world organisation that helps and encourages young people to creatively express their positive vision for change in the local communities surrounded by them. I think that if I would enter this competition I would myself learn why it is important for young people to do that. I would also learn a new technique regarding the format that my entry would be done for example if I was to make a short movie I would learn how to do that and if I was to make a poster I would learn how to use the adobe software in order to do that. It’s important for young people to say more in the media as we are the future and we have a different perspective on life than the older people.

Adobe Youth Voices 2014

Hello there, today in class I had a look at the adobe youth awards in the year of 2014 and my favourite video was the winner in the documentaries section. The title of the movie is Victim and I have picked this video as my favourite just because I have never let anyone bully me, but I have really learned how bad bullying actually is on the victim from this video. Find out what I mean for yourself by watching the video from the link posted below.

Digital Media Level 4 Copyright !!

Copyright in our lives !!

Today in class we have learned about copyright, and for some reason I feel like I already did a WordPress post on this but if thats what they asked me to do I have no choice but to do it. So what we learned in class today was mostly based on all the different copyright acts.. And I will list the learning outcome here.

Copyright and Related Rights Act (2000, 2004)

While reading about this act I really found out what copyright is and that is a legal concept that is made by the government to protect the people that own the original work. It applies to books, films, music and it means that only the author of the file has the right to copy it/remix it and play it. And it was brought in so that only the author of the product can make money off it.

Data Protection Act (1988, 2003)

This act was about our own personal data that is given to certain organizations, it makes sure that our confidential information is confidential and nobody has accessed unless authorized to have that power, these details have to very be kept safe. In order to receive a copy of these informations we have  to request a copy from the organization and these details should be very easy for us to understand, but they are not always free and come with a small charge.

Data Controller – It is what is responsible for keeping and using any private or personal data in an organization.

Data Processor – Responsible for data entry, editing as well as management.

Defamation Act (2009)

The defamation act was brought in place so that nobody can post bad remarks about someone to damage their reputation, anybody that goes against that act and posts something about somebody else that could hurt them can be brought to court. Everyone is allowed to a certain amount of privacy even in digital media and social networking.

Consumer Protection Act (2007)

This act was brought in so that we can have more rights while doing online shopping comparing to a walk in shop. If you think that you have less rights online you are wrong, as there is even an extended period of time to return items if faulty. If the item is not as described you have the full right to a full refund, thats why you should always keep the proof of purchase.

Internet Policy in the Worplace

Most businesses usually have an IAUP (Internet Acceptable Usage Policy) which is basically a restriction on what websites or files can be opened on a computer, and that helps in many ways like.. There is more productivity because everyone cant sit around doing nothing, there is a smaller possibility to get a virus as only trusted websites are permitted. Cyber bullying is less likely to occur due to the IAUP as no social networking sites are allowed to be used. To find out more about IAUP hit this link Internet Acceptable Use Policy.

Digital Media Level 4 Digital Technology !!

How digital media technology can be used for:

Entertainment:

In our everyday lives we use digital media technology for several different things like playing games on our phones, taking pictures as well as sending messages and just simply calling people. Even though we might not notice it we really rely on digital media technology a lot more than we think. Everybody nowadays is using their phones or computers, even laptops for the use of social networking sites like Facebook and twitter where we are kept up to date on the world news as well as our friends and what they are up to. As well as we use phones and computers we also use a lot of different digital music players which we keep updating with all the new hits. Everywhere around the world nowadays people listen to the digital radio wether it is at home in your car or even in work, it makes our lives a lot better or maybe even happier.

Convenience:

Back in the day we needed maps where now all that has been replaced by digital technology, apps like google maps only need internet and all the new as well as the old roads maps are there, and they are updated every now and then. To find out information about the world we no longer have to look for as we now have things like wikipedia which can be accessed on any digital device and it is very simple to use. multi-screen-media_x

Digital Media Unit 1 – Mobiles and Smartphones

Today in class we looked at mobiles and smartphones, and only today I have realized how much people rely on their phones nowadays. We have first looked at all the different dial area numbers all over Ireland, we then did a video of our computers and uploaded it to youtube. We also looked at our voicemails and why they need a password as well as why is a key lock password needed in our phones. The class then brain stormed on; Smartphones supporting coursework, Smartphones for entertainment and convenience, where we found out all the apps that we really rely on. There is the video as a proof of work being done:

And here is the picture of the phone used to make the video:

Digital Media Final Chapter – Unit 7 Internet & Online Social Networks

In this unit I will answer a few questions 🙂

What are the advantages of doing blog posts in comparison to written sheets?

There is many advantages of blog posts over normal written sheets, I will list most of them right here:

  • There is no paper wasted so its easier on the environment, less trees are being cut down to produce paper.
  • You can edit the blog post at any time with no problem, where with paper you have to print it again.
  • On the blog we are able to post videos as well as pictures and links to different websites.
  • A better design can be made on the blog post where paper sheets are plain and simple.

Why do we use ‘tags’ in our posts?

By using tags we can tag people that are related to the topic that we are currently writing about, I feel like they are very useful as it is easier to address the people we want to address.

Why do we store everything in the student folders on the network?

The student folder makes life a lot easier as it keeps every one of our files in one place, we can also access it from any computer that is connected to the network as well as we can share things between students a lot easier as everybody can access it instead of trying to email or send something to each other.

One of my Interests

I have always been into sports, but only recently I got my mind interested on MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), I do Muay Thai (Thai Box – Martial Art) myself but the reason that MMA has drown my attention is because of the featherweight champion from Brasil Jose Aldo. Jose Aldo Junior is on a 18 fight win streak which 6 of them were title fights (all successful) he has not been defeated since 2005. Jose Aldo has a very strong ground game as well as knockout power stamina and speed, which makes him out standing in MMA, according to the founder of UFC Dana White he is one of the best pound for pound fighters there ever was. Here is a video of Junior’s highlights:
