Digital Media Unit 2

Today in class we learned more about photography but this time we actually got to do some practical work, as we got to go around and take pictures off different objects trying out the tips we were given in the booklet we received, we learned to put the main subject of the picture just off the middle of the picture as that catches peoples attention more. We have also learned that instead of using zoom it is better to use our legs to get closer to the object.DSC_8175

We also learned the rule of two-thirds which explained why anything is better than having the horizon in the middle (instead divide the screen into 3 sections and position it there).

As well as that we found out how use different angles (low&high) angles while taking a picture which basically means taking the picture from under the subject or above it.

Today in class we are learning about photography using a Nikon D90, the first thing we have found out was the different mode dial on the camera, on the Nikon D90 there is 6 scenes and they are;

  • No Flash
  • Portraitsnikon_d90_mode_dial
  • Landscape
  • Macro(close-ups)             All illustrated here —–>
  • Sports
  • Nighttime

As well as there is 4 different modules (Listed Below) illustrated —->

  1. M (Manual) Its where you can change both the shutter speed as well as the aperture.
  2. A (Aperture priority auto) You chose aperture and the camera selects both shutter speed used to blur the background.
  3. S (Shutter priority auto) Its when you chose the shutter speed and the camera adjusts the aperture used to freeze or blur motion.
  4. P (Programmed Auto) Its when the camera selects both (very handy for snapshots).
